Château Bauduc, France – Gavin Quinney

February 5, 2012

Why do you do what you do?

Because we chose to do it ten years ago and it certainly has its moments. We live in a lovely home.

Why do you choose to do it the way you do?  Why ‘lutte raisonée’ and not full on organic?

Lutte raisonée seems a balanced approach. Not full organic due to cost of labor but also anti-botrytis sprays can save you.

What disasters have you survived?

Hailstorms, lack of funds, teetering on the brink.

The future?

The greatest threat to vineyards is global oversupply and the financial burden. It’ll be survival of the fittest.

Are you happy with your work?

Just about.

Is it worth the effort?

Not really but we’ll stick with it. Positive feedback from customers makes it worth it.
