Reyneke Wines, South Africa – Johan Reyneke

February 16, 2012

Why do you do what you do?

I did a degree in environmental ethics and with the newfound knowledge came the obligation to act. To make the best quality wine possible, and at the same time respect the natural environment and people who work here, makes me a happy person.

Why do you choose to do it the way you do?

I believe biodynamics is the ideal countermeasure for this materialistic, consumerist era in which we live.

What obstacles have you overcome?

I’m still overcoming obstacles on a daily basis. Initially it was to overcome my own prejudice, lack of understanding, lack of support and lack of funds.

Are you happy with your work?

Very much so.

Is it worth the effort?
