Wild Hog Vineyard, California – Daniel Schoenfeld

February 21, 2012

Why do you do what you do?

We make wine because we love to drink it, and we’re good at making wine.  I make wine as simply as possible. That way the flavors of the vintage and vineyard come through.

What obstacles have you overcome?

The hardest part of winemaking is selling it, also the least fun part for me. Wine makes itself.  All I do is make sure nothing goes wrong.  We have been lucky and in the first 30 years there have been no disasters.

Is it worth the effort?

It is always worth the effort. What a great life. I’m my own boss, I get to make wine that makes me and other people happy and I earn a living doing it. What’s not to like?
