Maple Creek Winery, California – Tom Rodrigues and Linda Stutz

May 26, 2012

Maple Creek Winery was the dream of Artist/Vintner Tom Rodrigues and his partner, Interior Architect/Designer, Linda Stutz. Tom was the Designer and Production Manager at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch Studio. His introduction to wine began in 1978 when he designed the Far Niente wine label and began collecting French Bordeaux and Burgundy wines. In 2001, Tom and Linda combined their passions of Art and Wine and moved to Mendocino County, to Maple Creek Winery.

Tom: Maple Creek Ranch boasts 180 acres, 7 springs, natural gardens and fruit orchards. We have edible mushrooms and wild boar and wildlife and an abundance of fresh food and water on this land. We are sustainable and herbicide and pesticide-free. Recently we fell five 100′ fir trees that were dead and dying (of natural causes) and we milled the wood to be used for building a new winery in the future. The rest of the land is pasture land, indigenous oak trees, madrone trees, buckeyes and fir. And of course, we have two miles of Maple Creek running through the property.

Note: Tom and Linda have since parted ways and Maple Creek Winery will go on the auction block on August 16, 2012 at the Mendocino County Courthouse in Ukiah, California.
