Château Canet, France – Floris Lemstra and Victoria Lemstra-Bake

June 18, 2012

After fifteen years of experiences in Burgundy, my wife Victoria and I decided to follow a dream.  She worked for an active, luxury travel company and I was in the wine business; and our dream was to work together and share our love of wine and “la belle vie”.  After a couple of years of searching we came upon Château Canet, and settled here in 2006 with our two children. Thus began our adventure in the Languedoc-Roussillon and we have not looked back!

Château Canet has 45 hectares of vineyards, 3 hectares of olive groves, 65 hectares of farmland and pine forests. It is located in the middle of a natural heaven, the “Balcons de L’Aude” in the Minervois region.  A great wine “terroir” made up of clay and limestone soil.

The vineyards are managed according to the guidelines of sustainable viticulture, following the principles of Terra Vitis® since 2003.  The Terra Vitis mandate has a significant impact on the quality of the grapes and ensures that we respect the environment, the long term health of our vineyards and the surrounding agricultural land.

After 5 years, we have injected a family spirit into the domain. We are proud to be making award winning wines and welcome guests year round to visit and stay in our charming guest cottages.
